Celebrating My Birthday.

So this past Monday was my birthday! I took the day off from work to spend time with the kiddo and went to pick up my cake from a local bakery. It was probably the best cake I had in a real long time.

Later on that night the hubs and I had dinner reservations at Bandera, which is a cutesy restaurant in a multi-level building on Michigan Avenue. Many of the restaurants on Michigan Ave can be pretty touristy (read: Cheesecake Factory), but Bandera is favored by local and tourists alike. I was trying to stay away from the downtown scene but I couldn’t stay away from it for too long. We do have many great neighborhoods but nothing is like downtown Chicago. The restaurant has a great view of Michigan Ave especially now that they have their Christmas lights on. I was really craving a good burger and fries (I know how original) and Bandera hit the spot.

We then headed to Le Bar at the Sofitel for drinks. It’s not a big bar and the French Deep House music really set the mood as a cool cocktail lounge. I didn’t take any photos but I was able to get the hubs to take a snapshot of me heading there:

All in all it was a great day and made me forget that I am now a year older. I don’t want to even think about that (ha!).  🙂

  1. Happy belated birthday! Michigan Avenue looks especially beautiful this time of year. New Yorkers can keep their Manhattan – I’ll take our Gold Coast any day of the week!

  2. Happy Belated Birthday Deanna ! The cake looks so delicious. Chicago downtown looks so beautiful with all the Christmas decoration. We visited Chicago during Christmas last year, ( almost froze, my first winter in USA ) spent most of the time outdoors taking pics of the decorations.
