Celebrating the big 2.

Two Sundays ago, we celebrated the kiddo’s 2nd birthday. Her birthday actually falls at the end of May but during the weeknights, so we decided to have it that weekend of her birthday.

I can’t believe she is TWO. Time is flying for  me. I remember the first weeks of her birth I thought “man time is going kinda slow, when will this kid start walking and talking?” Well there you go.

After going back and forth on where to have the party, which I am SO over that, we decided this year to have it at our condo. We threw pretty big bashes for her first year of life, her baby shower, her Christening, and her 1st Birthday. All in pretty fancy schmancy restaurants in Chicago.

I thought I’d take a break this year and I was glad I did, although my husband did not agree, he prefers having it outside the condo. Meh, I guess, but it was nice to know I did not have to get ready to go anywhere, and once the guest left I was able to just quickly slip into my yoga pants and tank top and relax. Our group was small, about 15 guests.

We had a Minnie Mouse theme and bought all the decorations for it including the plates and utensils, so cleaning up after was a breeze. I didn’t go all Pinteresty on the decorations but I did manage to get lots of pink balloons that filled the room.

And the cake-the cake! I went with a chocolate fudge ganache filling and hot pink buttercream frosting with Minnie Mouse as the image on the cake. She was not quite sure what to do with the candles being lit but next thing you know, she was asking to blow the candles over and over again.

Such a picky eater yet she went for the taco dip first, not the pizza. Go figure.

Here’s to many more baby doll! Love, Mom and Dad.

  1. “I didn’t go all Pinteresty” – Hahaha! That line cracked me up. It is so, so easy to get sucked into the full Pinterest experience and make yourself crazy!!! So glad you were able to resist!
Happy 2nd birthday to your little one!

    • Thanks! Yea I just made that word up haha. I had ceiling deco and mainly balloons, and Minnie plates. The pics came out too dark to post :-/. No cupcakes or a candy bar etc. Just real good pizza from Ricobene’s in Bridgeport and cake, very simple.
