Top 5 Reasons Why You Should Blog.

I thought I’d  take a break from “mom blogging” and actually write a post about blogging itself. My non-blogging friends are probably wondering what is with this blogging deal, everyone seems to be doing it. If you haven’t started a blog yet, you should!

So for this week’s post, I will be going through the top 5 reasons why you should blog. Us bloggers know there are tons of reasons to blog but don’t want to overwhelm those that don’t so I figured 5 reasons was a happy medium. Here I go:

1. It allows you to have a creative outlet: If you read bloggers’ About Me pages, you probably have noticed that the majority of them state that the reason  they started a blog was to have a “creative outlet”. This is true. Blogging allows you to self express your interests and ideas on a weekly basis. It is pretty therapeutic if you ask me.

2. It allows you to belong to a tight-knit community: There are tons of blogs out there and it would be impossible to follow all of them, but at least it allows you to meet some pretty cool bloggers either way. The blogging community is very supportive of each other believe it or not and I have not seen this anywhere else.

3. It gives you opportunities: When you blog, there are many opportunities that can arise. Whether it’s being invited to a great event that would support your blog or help you generate income where you can have a flexible work-life balance through sponsored posts and advertising, the sky’s the limit!

4. It would fulfill your writing/reading fix: Now I do hear some people tell me that they are not “writers” so creating a blog isn’t for them. Here’s the thing-you don’t have to be. Many bloggers never had a writing background to begin with or just love to read. So if you have a passion for writing and/or reading, blogging is for you! You can write about ANYTHING these days I am telling you-whatever you love to do, can be put into a blog, trust me!

5. And about that work/life balance: Before I started a blog I read on a blog somewhere that blogging outside your 9-5 actually helps you be more satisfied going to your job. When I first read this, I was like um, what!? It is true! Let’s face it, doing the 9-5 for five days straight can get pretty monotonous. By blogging in between your job, you will feel more well rounded and more satisfied with your work/life balance.

So I hope these reasons will convince you to start that blog. I know you all have many interests and opinions whirling inside your head that are just waiting to be blogged about. Blogs can be pretty inspiring and are truly a great way to express oneself. If you happen to start a blog after this let me know, would love to follow! Also, for those who are already blogging, what are some other reasons you blog?

  1. I definitely don’t consider myself to be a writer but I have found “a voice” in blogging by just telling stories as I would if I was talking to a friend. I’m sure that anyone to whom grammar is important would HATE the way I write but too bad! And I will say it again, I am in awe of you bloggers who have a full-time job and a little one at home. I’ve got neither of those and can barely manage to keep up with the reading and posting!

    • Oh believe me it’s hard! If it wasn’t for my hour lunch at work I wouldn’t be able to blog. And I still struggle to find time. I have to give it to those that write everyday with little ones! But yes that is the best way to write, to storytell and all 🙂
