Rogers Park Social

Happy Memorial Day everyone! Thank you for those who served our country. I didn’t have a chance to leave the city this weekend, but growing up, I would commemorate this occasion by visiting our great grandfather’s grave who served in the army.

I always loved hearing the story about how he immigrated to the US from Europe so that he can make a better life for his family, and wanted to be a citizen so badly, and at the time they were willing to grant him citizenship as long as he served in the U.S Army during WW1, so he went with it and knew it would be worth it for his family and future generations to come. So I salute him and others on this day.

Yesterday I had a chance to step out and have a mom’s night out with a fellow mama and we found the cutest gem near our neighborhoods called Rogers Park Social. No work for us on Monday-whoo hoo!

I just randomly searched for a place that we were trying to find to have our meet up and just stumbled upon this place. You wouldn’t even know it’s here unless you live on the far northside of Chicago or if someone told you about it, so I am glad I discovered it!

Located in the Glenewood Art District, the place did not disappoint. One side was a narrow bar area with a dj in the corner and the other room had a loungey area with retro mod furniture that you can drink the time away. And that is what we did.

They make pretty crafty cocktails that they really take a long time to make, but we were not in a hurry 🙂

We alas, did talk about our kids but it was still good to just get together and catch up about the trials and tribulations of motherhood. We also talked about urban parenting vs suburban parenting and how Chicago is such a great place to raise a kid that benefits them by having a global view of life.

But we also talked about how important these girls night outings are for mothers. We love our children dearly but we need that break from them once in awhile. So we promised we would do these more often.

No matter where you are in life, this place is a great cozy spot to catch up with friends. Check it out!

Hope you are all having a great weekend! xoxo

  1. Sounds like a great meet-up spot! I love catching up with my girlfriends…we do so every other month or so. It really helps with my sanity when I have a night out with the girls!
