Andersonville and Midsommer Fest

Hello once again! Is it me or are Mondays even harder to get through after a weekend during the summertime?

I had a pretty low key weekend. And it rained A LOT. I was tempted to buy Hunter boots that I saw on sale the other day but it was also so hot and humid I couldn’t bear the thought of trying a pair on. Maybe when it gets cooler, which is not unusal around these parts.

Although I did make it out to Andersonville on Sunday to catch some of the festivities over there. It was their annual Midsommer Festival and this year they celebrated their 50th Anniversary. Festivals in Chicago are a must when you live out here. They are full of kids and adults alike enjoying good music, food, and drinks.

Here are some shots I took of the neighborhood and couple scenes from the festival. It’s a vibrant neighborhood that is full of local shops and restaurants that still has its Swedish roots which was one of the first groups to settle here. The neighborhood even has a Swedish American Museum including a Children’s Immigration Museum which I love taking my daughter there. It was here where I also had my daughter’s 1st birthay party as well. I seriously heart this ‘hood and if you are ever in Chicago, experience like a true local and check Andersonville out. I will be sure to come back and blog about it some more since I am only a hop, skip and away from here. Enjoy!

  1. Looks like fun! There is nothing like a neighborhood festival. Neighborhoods AND festivals are two things that Chicago does very well!
