Charlotte Tilbury Nordstrom Event

Hope everyone had a great Father’s Day! My kiddo’s father had to work unfortunately so we are going to do a belated Father’s Day outing later this week (and less crowds anyways). Since he works down the street from Michigan Ave, he went and did some solo shopping and found a great pair of leather shoes on his way to work. So happy he treated himself.

Speaking of Michigan Ave, I work super close to it as well and if I want to just run some shopping errands after work it’s pretty convenient, since that is where I usually then get on the bus to go home from work anyways. Yay for city living!

So this past Friday, I went on a mission to find myself a pair of sunnies that I really badly needed. As we get older,we need to protect our eyes more than ever.

I had lost a pair of Ray Bans back in 2011 so I have been on a do-not-buy-expensive sunglassses list and was just borrowing my husband’s the whole time. A lesson learned.

I didn’t wanted to go the cheap route because I try to buy items of good quality once and for all and then just keep them for many many years. I really can’t stand shopping for accessories actually, including shoes. I know, what kind of a woman am I?!

So I went into Nordstroms and found myself a pair of sunnies that I really liked. At the same time I was shopping for sunglasses, a big event was going on in the background for Charlotte Tilbury. The house music was bumping and the women were getting make overs left and right. Apparently Charlote Tilbury has been a make-up artist to the stars including Kate Moss for 20 years! And she also has done George Clooney’s wife’s make-up as well. Ya learn something everyday!

Of course, they saw a tired mama with no make up on and recruited me to sit in one of their chairs. I figured eh, why not.

I actually have my own beauty favorites which you can read about here, but it’s nice to try new things once in awhile and be pampered. I think us moms especially feel guilty about taking time away from family to do these sort of things. But once in awhile is ok.

I get a little paranoid about getting my make-up done at these counters because they really cake it on ya sometimes, and I have learned over the years how to put make up on with out making yourself look like a clown.

But they did a good job I have to say, doesn’t even look like I have any on does it? This look is apparently called the “Uptown Girl” which is usually done on faces like Kate Middleton, very girl next door.

So I walked away with a pair of sunglasses that I love and a make over, so I hopped on the bus and headed home to start the weekend feeling glamorous with my face made up and my sunglasses(which I wanted to wear so badly to really channel the celebrity look but I didn’t for fear of looking silly). Despite the rain on Saturday, Father’s Day was simply gorgeous, even well into the evening as I wrote this blog post under the moon on my balcony.

Hope you all have a great week! xo
